Charity Group

The Music School has its own Charity Group which has been in operation as long as the School - started by Ruby Mackay with Treasurer Helen Mitchell and Mag Leonard. To date the Charity has raised just under £20,000, and in 2008 Ruby and husband Sandy have been asked to the Queens Garden Party at Holyrood in recognition of the work the School has done in aid of many Charities both local and distant (Ethiopia). The Schools pupils are to be thanked for offering their performances freely whenever approached to play or sing at the Schools concerts or events.

So far the following charities have benefited from School events held:

  • Marie Curie
  • Anthony Nolan
  • Imperial Cancer
  • Cerebral Palsy Fund
  • Romanian Orphans
  • ActionAid (supporting a family in New Delhi)
  • The Salvation Army
  • Aberdeen Special Nursery ARI
  • MacMillan Nurses
  • Young Children Diabetic Fund (Aberdeen)
  • Nazareth Hospital
