As we all get ready for the Festive Season there’s lots going on at Chalmers Mackay:
• Firstly, the Ceilidh Peppers are back from their very successful tour to Colorado, USA. Emma, one of their fiddlers, has done a lowdown of the trip – you can read all about it and glance at some pics by logging onto www.myspace.com/ceilidhpeppers. You can also purchase a copy of their new album Hangin Oot the Windaes via the site.
• Granite have been in PHI Recording Studio, out at Leslie, to record their debut EP. - “And the World Will Smile Again”, which will be available from mid-December – watch this space! Also, CONGRATULATIONS to the Band for recently winning a ‘Battle of the Bands’ night @ Oldmeldrum Academy, where Aberdeen judges considered them to be the best of five bands performing at the event!
• Term 2 lasts 8 weeks, from Sunday 26th October through to Saturday 20th December (Both dates inclusive)
• Band Rehearsals are on Sundays. Dates: 2nd Nov, 16th Nov, 30th Nov, 14th Dec. The venue for rehearsals is: 3 Forest Road, Kintore. Times of rehearsals: 5pm – Kaleidoscope. 6pm – Granite. 7pm – Reprobates.
• November 6th: Associated Board Theory Exams
• November 27th: Trinity Guildhall Exams – Ferryhill Church, Aberdeen
• November 29th: Celtallica and Granite playing @ Kintore Hall. Tickets available from the Music School and from members of the Kintore Community Hall by calling Brian 0779532622.
• November 30th: Inverurie Town Square, music school bands playing early afternoon: Kaleidoscope, Granite, Reprobates, Celtallica and Famous Ape The Inverurie Christmas lights will also be switched on at this event.
• December 1st and 2nd Associated Board Exams – 3 Forest Road, Kintore.
• London College Exams – dates still to be confirmed
• December 7th Youngsters Christmas Concert @ Hatton of Fintray Hall – 2.30pm. Tickets can be purchased from the Music School.
• December 11th Kintore Senior Citizen Lunch Club - UFO Christmas Special!
• December 23rd Ruby Mackay appearing on BBC TV with Ruby Rendall Band – Channel 3 Alba Gaelic Channel @ 9.00pm.
