Newsletter - Term 3 (Jan - Apr 2009)
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL & Welcome from Chalmers Mackay

Welcome back to all pupils, and a very warm welcome to all new starters! We have a lot in store for all our music makers during this 13 week Term, and have been inundated with requests for lessons!

January is a busy month for all our bands, and rehearsals are held fortnightly on Sundays at 3 Forest Road, Kintore. Rehearsal dates can be found on our Calendar on the web-site. Phil Allen, one of our Guitar Tutors, will be taking these sessions.

Stuart Armstrong, Guitar Tutor at the School, will also be taking band rehearsal sessions at Dee Street, Aberdeen on Sundays - times and dates for these are still to be confirmed. Anyone interested in joining a band should inform their tutor or phone Ruby at the School on 07747791830.

Our Annual Charity Concert will be held at 7.00pm on Saturday 28th March at the Acorn Centre in Inverurie. The Mary Wishart Trophy for Achievement will be presented at this concert to a pupil from the Shcool. Be sure to look out soon for more details about this entertaining evening!

Another event being planned for our pupils in March, is a 'Rock On Special' afternoon at the Lemon Tree in Aberdeen. This will give our Guitar and Drum Scholars an exciting opportunity to perform at one of Aberdeen's best music venues and will be a not to be missed event!

Chalmers Mackay Tutors will be attending a Seminar with Rockschool this Term to review their new Diploma Syllabus.

The Ceilidh Peppers, one of our Celtic Bands, is heading for Edinburgh Castle to play for the First Minister, Alex Salmond, in the Grand Hall - Tuesday 20th January. Ruby and Bob will do a short presentation to the Consulate meeting and the Band will then be "showcased" during the rest of the evening. They will perform some of their own material, and a special pipe anthem that Ruby wrote while they were in Colorado during September last year.

We welcome Martin MacDonald and Andrew Saunders into the fold. Martin is now teaching Banjo, Classical Guitar and Rock Guitar at our Inverurie Studios, and Andrew is specialising in Piano, Keyboard and Singing.

"Granite" our young 'teen' Band have now released their debut CD "AND THE WORLD WILL SMILE AGAIN". You can buy a copy from the Music School or Moar Aroma in Kintore.

It would be really good for us to have everyone's e-mail addresses so we can send you up-dates during the Term. Our e-mail address is: chalmac@btconnect.com.

....AND FINALLY some exciting breaking news - we are planning to expand our music services within Inverurie and have put forward a proposal to the Council regarding new rehearsal rooms and a recording studio facility which we want to offer in Inverurie. If you would like to support us with this then please fill in the survey on this web-site.

NB. ROCKAPOTAMUS MUSIC SHOP is offering HUGE discounts to all our Students, so take advantage of this and visit their store at 70 West High Street, Inverurie or call 01467 622700
