Patrick Keenan

Patrick Keenan was brought up in a Musical household in Tifty, Aberdeenshire.  He took lessons in Percussion and Piano throughout school. 

 On leaving school he attended the University of Aberdeen to study for a bachelor of music degree.  He graduated in 2006 with a 1st Class Honours and attained a further award for composition - The Chris Cadwur James Memorial prize.  He remained at the university to obtain a Masters Degree in composition in 2008.  Currently he is studying for a PHD in composition.  

During his time at university he performed regularly in the Percussion Ensemble, Steel Pans and Orchestra.  He has also been the recipient of numerous scholarships and awards including the Ogston Post Graduate Scholarship, CASS studentship, James Milne memorial trust scholarship and an SIET scholarship.  

He has performed in Rock, Reggae, Jazz, Classical and Improvised contexts and is interested in a huge range of styles of music.  He regularly performs in a popular Aberdeen-based ceilidh band "The Broad Bay Ceilidh Band". 

As well as teaching at Chalmers Mackay he is involved in work at Lathallan School, Tillydrone Youth Project, and various schools in Aberdeen City.
