I have been teaching at Chalmers Mackay for 11 years now, having started as a trainee piano and keyboard tutor back in 1999. I am currently working as a probationer Music Teacher at Elgin Academy, having attained my B Mus Degree from Aberdeen University in June 2009.
I am passionate about teaching and love working with young people. I teach classical, and light pop styles on both piano and keyboard , and also try to incorporate music the pupil wants to bring in, a favourite song or tune they want to try. I believe in making lessons enjoyable and interesting for my pupils, many of whom have gone through for Associated Board and Trinity Guildhall exams - to date 25 of my pupils have achieved distinctions, 21 merits, and 24 passes - ( I do not enter pupils who arent ready for exams) so no fails!
My hobbies include horse riding (i attend and enter Show Jumping at local Shows with my pony Ritz) skiing ( I was lucky to get to Ski at Whistler Village over in Canada 2007) reading, badminton. I am also playing in the Music School Ceilidh Band Celtallica, and the Ceilidh Peppers when they need me.
Playing piano/keyboard can benefit other learning, and also is a great relaxer, so why not consider taking up lessons - we are here to help you!
