Joe Whiteman

I have been teaching fiddle at Chalmers Mackay Music School since September 2009.  However I have been involved in the School since 2001 when I was a pupil and then a member of the office staff.

I come from Inverurie and studied at the Academy until my University entrance in 2008.  I am working towards obtaining a BMus Single Honours degree studying Classical Violin, though Scottish Fiddle music is where my interests truly lie.  I've been a member of successful ceilidh band the "Ceilidh Peppers" for several years now, having played with them in Sweden, USA and Orkney.

I have vast experience when it comes to performing, having taken part in many concerts/gigs over the years.  Also because I also play percussion, piano and I sing in a choir, I am able to give pupils a more well-rounded view on music.

My other interests include:  Gilbert and Sullivan productions, Musical Theatre, Football, Cars and hanging out with my friends.

I feel the only way pupils learn is if they play what they want to play, therefore in lessons I can be very flexible to meet the needs of the individual.  This also makes lessons more fun!
