Nicola Auchnie

I started as a tutor at Chalmers Mackay in 2008. In June 2009 I completed my Bmus with education degree from Aberdeen University.

I come from Turriff and studied at the School there up until my University entrance in 2005. As well as playing Classical music I am very interested in Scottish fiddle having had lessons with Paul Anderson in the North East fiddle style in the past. I use both styles in my teaching having taken all the grades in violin with the Associated board and have a theory qualification.

My interests are - playing in my band Ceilidh Mor , highland dancing, and ensemble work in the university Orchestra, choral society, Learig orchestra and Perth Symphony orchestra. This year I am taking part in the fiddle masters at Oban. I have also been a general assistant at Turriff Show and Delgatie Castle, Turriff.

I very much enjoy working with my pupils at Chalmers Mackay. Fiddle/violin is a very expressive instrument and once you tackle the basic technique its there with you for life. Why not come along and try it?
